indian wells: the torch test

i made my first visit to the bnp paribas open at indian wells...

6 days and nights of tennis, in gorgeous -- if not perfect--weather conditions...

two or three thousand photos shot with a canon 5d and 70-200mm lens with a 1.4 extender and from time to time a 24mm-70mm...

but i also snapped some with my blackberry.

the bb doesn't get a lot of love or respect, but the torch i have can deliver some pretty fun shots. not perfect, but fun. i tested it in different light, different distances and circumstances. even at its weakest or "noisiest" i thought the results were sort of charming. i didn't use any specific filters. the only adjustments were contrast, curves and cropping.

i think the torch is especially good at capturing clouds and macro shots in bright light.

in any case, i hope you like a few of these. if you click on the photos on the slideshow, you should see notes, comments about each:

  it was a wonderful week...
