the back story here is that i was looking for some good wednesday night programming and turned to TCM. winona ryder (looking lovely but sounding awfully nervous) was the evening's co-host. she chose for our viewing pleasure a "screwball twist on snow white and the seven dwarfs"-- a film called "balls of fire." gary cooper plays a professor working on an encyclopedia, barbara stanwyck is the stripper who teaches him all about slang. and: there's an appearance by gene krupa. sounds like a winner, yes?
i wound up having to record the film, so can't provide a critique at the moment.
