ct: the big "oof"
on the subject of interoffice dating, my friend don eloquently advised, "don't sh*t where you eat." i have, for the most part, heeded his advice. i'm really, overall, more of a "crusher" than a "dater" anyway. but there have been "at work" moments that still make me laugh to think about ("he chops wood?!") and boys that make me cringe (hello danny. praise the evolution of taste).
this episode tickles me, the tears, the tupperware move, and the tyler "total eclipse" finale.
enjoy!
CT: the finale, o brother
it's hard to believe the first season of the first web comedy series i ever worked on is over. one of my friends asked me recently if the show is a success. i had to be honest and say i didn't know--how do you judge the success of an online show? is it just a numbers game, based purely on traffic? was the point to get good reviews--from? i'm sure the producers have their benchmarks, but i'm not privy to that information.
i can only say that i was happy about the opportunity i had to work on it. comedy is a tricky, but worthy art. i've heard from friends that the show made them laugh for a few minutes a week. and that sounds plenty fine to me.
i like this ending to season 1.
hope you enjoy it, too.

testing testing, the sigma 50mm on the CT set
ah, i remember this shoot day well. i'd just purchased the sigma 50mm and brought it to the set for the first time. these photos are vastly different from the others-- new lens in a new space (a loft in tribeca). i didn't know how to properly adjust for the light there, but still, i think these tinty pics are ok.
molly (in green) and renee.
i love molly...we met for the first time on the shoot, and we've run into each other a bunch of times in the city.
she is the lead singer of rooftops. i'm hoping to catch their next show...
lauren and molly. different light here--it was night time by the time we shot this.
we set up spots to create an indoor "party" scene.
lauren and molly. this was their reaction when i told them i sort of stalked scott speedman. once.
(i just followed him for a few blocks in the street. ha.)
random, mickey mouse/star wars doodad on someone's desk at the office. but it was the first shot i took that really showed off the nice "blur" that you can get with the 50mm.

CT: monica dearest
M & M
bitter, angry chocolate? her name is monica.
nut? michelle.
i love them both, but especially in this episode.
hope this makes your back-to-work-tuesday a little brighter.

CT: ready for my close-up?
i've got my little hands all over this episode.
i actually got to do a little bit of (shaky) video work. it's not so easy to film while walking backwards, down a sloping upper west side street.
AND, i'm turkey sandwich girl, chewing at a vicious pace, in the close. (i eat with gusto, damn! you bet.)
enjoy "spare a dime"...

CHAOS: christmas and the hard luck kid
the holiday episode--christmas and the hard luck kid--is live. this one has some of the usual chaos (use the mace! use the mace!), but it has warm and wistful moments, too.
i just went through the stills--shot on 3 different days this fall. it seems like so long ago.
my hope is that the photos will start to provide, apart from a view of the production, a sense of who the actors and producers are. i loved watching everyone play, plot, and choreograph, work through lines and angles and action, but i loved the quiet moments too--how they look at each other, how they watch, how they listen. i tried for those...
here's a link to the full set aaaand...the episode.
cheers!

how i spent my summer vacation (and the fall season, too)
as some of you know, i've spent a (very) good part of the last several months working on an online comedy series, called chaos theory. it's been live for about a month at phoebetv.com. so far the word is good! people seem to be finding it as funny as it was fun for us to shoot.
there are 11 episodes up now, and we'll be premiering a new one every tuesday for the the next few months. i'll likely be posting links here but there are plenty of ways, if you're so inclined, to keep up: become a fan on facebook, follow the show on twitter, sign up for email alerts, bookmark phoebetv...
and as of tonight, we're on youtube, though there are only a couple of videos up at the moment...
we also now have a little "bonus material" in the form of still photos (which i took) and a gag reel.
***
who doesn't love a gag reel? this one is funny and, dare i say, sweet?
i was hovering around behind the camera for almost every one of these bloopers, and i laugh just has hard now as i did then. and i sort of well up a bit, remembering how much fun it was.
deleted scene from "dinner parties"--emily, eating chocolate cake that i picked up from sarge's deli...doug and kari on the couch--my couch.
the shoot was a nice distraction from that day's sporting news --nadal had just lost at the french. oof.
the blanketed fellow (with the dress shoes) disrupted the shot on lex but it was worth it, just to see his get-up ("homeless" episode forthcoming)...
check the bloopers on youtube or on the phoebetv site...
