read a good poem: muse

MUSE
after reading Rilke

No angel speaks to me.
And though the wind
plucks the dry leaves
as if they were so many notes
of music, I can hear no words.

Still, I listen. I search
the feathery shapes of clouds
hoping to find the curve of a wing.
And sometimes, when the static
of the world clears just for a moment

a small voice comes through,
chastening. Music
is its own language, it says.
Along the indifferent corridors
of space, angels could be hiding.

kids, all right

two cameras and i made the trek out to governors island last night for the local natives show on governor's island. i took a few snapshots with the g10, because it was beautiful dusky ride.

look at all the kids...

i was reminded of cinco de mayo dinner with handsome writer friend. i, running characteristically late, sent an apologetic text to him, waiting at the bar/restaurant.
he responded with understanding, but then described the scene: "crowded with youth."
i laughed out loud. we went elsewhere.
